83 190D 2.2 Issue

I bought a 84 190d 2.2 diesel and it is a wonderful car when I get it to start. Was having issues with it to start the glow plugs didnt want to warm or the compressing release didnt work as well I got them to work and now I have a problem I cannot explain. This happen to me yesterday and I cannot figure it out other than there is a ground or something causing it. but with the key turned off and everything off some how all the light in the console came on and stayed on and my head lights stayed on as well just wondering if you all would know or give me a idea what it would be

Sounds like a faulty headlight switch....or some aftermarket security system is wired in and messing stuff up.
