190DT Vacuum Check Valve (near Brake Booster)
After converting my 87 190D Turbo to a 5 speed, I decided to clean up the vacuum system before swapping out the old-style vacuum pump for the new style.
I knew I had various vacuum leaks, and used the attached diagram from the service manual to eliminate vacuum components and piping associated with the Emisssions and Automatic Transmission for better integrity. (The blue highlighted vacuum routing and the yellow vacuum components have been eliminated aside from the VCV #65 which I'm not sure can be safely removed.) This all went very well, except that in tightening a loose connector on part 140, the brake check valve, the dry brittle plastic snapped and stuff flew everywhere. I wrapped electric tape around the broken check valve nipple and routed the key shut-off, which could no longer receive vacuum, another way so it could receive vacuum. The car shuts off properly, and the brake feel is significantly improved. But I would like to replace the check valve and I'm not sure how to do it. It appears that it screws into place. Has anyone replaced this valve? Does anyone know how to get it aside from the dealer? I couldn't find it on peach parts, and EPC won't ever let me register.
