Superior Shift Kit Stacked Shift Spring?

First let me thank everybody for the awesome threads on all the tests for the transmission. I have an 83 300d that I recently purchased. I have done all the tests and made every adjustment possible and I still can't eliminate my stacked 2-3 gear shift. I came to the conclusion that the Superion Shift kit was the answer to my problem. I got my box today and there are no instructions for the 2 springs I believe are for this problem. I found the instructions here on the sight, but it doesn't say which spring goes where? I have 2 "plain" springs that are different sizes that I believe are for the stacked shifting? Can anybody help out as far as which one is 2-3 and 3-4? thanks, andrew

You could contact the Maker and ask them. Maybe on their Website there is better instructions.

"Read Before Installing Package.
Stacked 2-3 Shift
If shift timing on 1-2 shifts is satisfactory but the 2-3is too early install the 2 Plain color Springs attached for extending 2-3 and 3-4 shift. Note: Installation of these Springs only requires removal of the Cover Plate."

I have never done this job before. But, what I get from the above Instructions I copied from the Instruction sheet is that because both springs are Plain they are tha same (remember I have not seen the Springs you have) and that you will use the 2 Springs but the go in different spots in the Valve Body.

While the Instructions Title has for stacked 2-3 in the Instructions it also has for extendint the 3-4 Shift.

In the picture it points to where the Springs go.

I hope the Pic shows up well.

Even though the typical problem is a stacked 2-3 shift, the 3-4 shift must be delayed to correspond with the delayed 2-3 shift. Otherwise, the result is a stacked 3-4 shift.

Thanks; the link you posted has a whole lot of info.

I have similar issues but I have not taken the time to Play with the Vacuum and Modulator adjustments to see if they would improve things.

But, if I ever decide to install a Spring Kit I plan to spend several hours reading the various Threads on the Job.

I suspect that the smaller new spring corresponds to the smaller original spring; likewise for the larger spring.
