OK. So when I accelerate is this bushing NOT supposed to shake all over ?

It seems to wiggle in circles ..

You should have smooth fore and aft motion. How well did you do in geometry? Remember the hypotenuse of the triangle is longer than the other sides? You need all the length you can get! Length means the injection pump rod goes further down, more fuel, and MORE POWER!

yeah, not supposed to shake. Should be firm and move the linkage without much give at all. Replaced this part on my brother's 300D a couple years ago and it was a big improvement.

Uh hmmm I am going to be blunt now...Just replace the DAMN thing...

What's happening is that, that bushing is shot so when you hit the accelerator...the linkage is not opening up the injection pump and it is not getting the Max fuel pressure. Your engine is fine...well not 100% fine but its fine....there are a few people on here who have gotten a w123 dirt cheap because it was slow as a terd and not making it up a hill....ahh here's one of many threads..

Talking Mine shakes like Shakira's hips .

Yeah . I got it. That was 99.9% sort of a rhetorical question.. I will try to tackle this thing tomorrow. Clean up the rods and connectors - grease 'em & hope to find a new replacement locally. And I do need a new air filter . The fuel filters were done not long ago.. Thanks for the time & guidance...

While your doing that, snap a photo of the linkage area under the stop lever. This way we can see if everything is correct there. I highly doubt you find one local...you can do this as a temporary fix..,.may bring back some throttle.

See the wire?

Austin, you all had us by the nose!

I would not use grease as will attract contamination and doesn't cut rust. A.T.F. works fantastic! I was in the F.L.A.P.S. and Ace. Noticed both had oiling cans. Tram said to get one and I don't know how I got along without it! I use it even on rusted bolts/nuts when putting things back together. Or to clean some grease off. The can is always by me. I even used it on the neighbor's electric juicer I borrowed! Now it doesn't squeak nearly as bad! Women love the little things...

more pics of down below. # 3 & #4 are how far to the left and to the right I can move that bar. # 5 you may be able to see that I do have slightly leaking injectors on # 1,2 and 4 . 3 looks dry.

The wetness is a typical sign of the braided return lines between the injectors leaking. Replace before one pops off and causes a huge mess plus side it will clean up some of your engine

Now you may have to hit a junk yard for some linkage parts. The photo isn't clear enough. But there is a spring connected to the linkage that should not be there. That bushing is bad/shot/ruined/dead/no more...so replace...that will fix a LOT..what looks like happened is the bushing failed long ago bit the 9.95$ an hour mechanics at jiffy lube didn't know that the bushing was causing no power problem so they Jerry rigid the linkage. Here's a great photo of what your linkage should look like and a good thread with more photos!

Austin I am no longer sure of what exact linkage you have. Remember on many misc parts pick and pulls can be your friend. A part shot on your vehicle may be still really good on a wreck. Keep a list of needs. Can save a bundle over time.
