half shaft removal 83 300sd

Dear: All.My inboard boot tore open its still clean in there.I want to remove it and put new boots on it.Never done this on a Mercedes.
Is their a bignut on the outboard side to remove.Or how do I perform this job.I can replace boot,but unsure how joint comes out.

Determine which Axles you have. The Annular Axles are easier to re-boot and you can use the Stock type of Boots if you want to.
You cannot use the Stock Boots on the Homokinetic Axles unless you have a Hydraulic press to take them appart.

can a boot strecher be used with Benz boots.the strecher looks like a atf funnel.

You'll not be able to stretch the original thick boots with either a boot gun or a funnel. There are flex boots for this. Apparently in the US Astoria 3001 boots are the ones to buy. Read more here =>
