MB 300 TD 85 rearbrake caliper, just installed - rebuilt - not working

Hi, Any help would be very much appreciated.

I replaced the back (2) rear brake calipers, factory rebuild units.
After bleeding the brake system, and when pressing down the brake pedal, the wheels can still be turned. In other words, the brake calipers are not working in the back.
What is the possible problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Paul
PS: Is there some adjustment possible in the brake pedal travel, since I changed the power brake cylinder some times ago?

yup, if the caliper bleeders are on the bottom, you have them on the wrong side of the car.

also, are you sure you never ran the master cylinder dry in the rear chamber?

did you change the brake hoses with the calipers?

I can't believe Mercedes designed the calipers so that they can be put on the wrong side and still fit.

Many vehicles are that way. Also, it will save on manufacturing costs because the same parts can be made into 2 components with the only difference being the bleed screw and hose location.

When I said fit, I meant caliper and the hose. For a safety item, It should have been designed so that the hose won't reach if the caliper is mounted wrong to provide a clue.

There is a great clue: the brakes cannot be bled. Works every time.

That's probably the least-answered question on the forum!!!

Yeah, but if the hose doesn't fit, boneheads wouldn't get to the bleeding part thus realizing something is wrong before going further.

Bleed nipples should always be on top, since air is lighter than fluid and has to rise to escape.

Stranger still is coming across cars that have them mounted on the wrong sides. It can be done with little effort. By that I mean little was done by the installer to determine if everything is installed correctly .
You can't fix stupid.

What method are you using to bleed the brakes?
