Injector question
Have a friend who once introduced to MB diesel's has become enthusiastic
in their procurement, have a question: Will 300d turbodiesel injectors do in a pinch to complete a three hour return trip in place of the injectors that seem to be failing in a 1983 240D? (rough idle, nailing, black smoke) Will the higher pop pressure be too much for the injector pump? In other words would you chance it? thanks in advance Jan Norton |

I would chance it, but I don't know for a fact how well it would work. The higher pop pressure would effectively reduce fueling slightly as well as slightly retarding the onset of injection, but I would bet money that it would still run and drive.

I would chance it especially if they are worn injectors - replace the heat shields though.
I don't think that the higher pop pressures will hurt the IP - I have a feeling that on a perfectly timed engine the fuel would arrive a bit late.
