87 300D outer sunroof panel removal help

I am slowly preparing my car for a repaint, the P/O painted it some years ago and didn't mix the hardener correctly or something, I don't know a lot about paint, but I do know that it shouldn't crack and spread when its all said and done, which is what happened. it looks like dried up clay in spots, leaving small canyons in the paint, I have decided to just replace the outer sunroof panel where it seems to be the worst, I just have no idea how to go about removing it, Oh yeah and also my sunroof isn't working correctly since some internal parts broke due to what I was told by lack of maintenance, and lube.
At some point I guess I am going to need to pull it all apart and try to fix the broken issue, but I was wandering if that will need to be addressed before I can remove the outer panel? Any advise? I'm not rich, but I am somewhat handy if I have proper instructions, I know nothing about these sunroofs though.

Best bet is to locate the factory procedure at either startekinfo.com, click on workshop resources, go in about 3 pages to the 124 manual link.

Or www.w124-zone.com, they have a mirror there.
