Any Tricks for Prying Out O-Ring?

I'm replacing the o-ring on my stuff lever using this fine DIY: PeachPartsWiki: Injection Pump Stop Lever Oil Leak Fix. I'm having trouble prying out the old o-ring. Tried tooth pick and end of sharp knife...nothing so far. Can anyone help with tools/technique?

I figure it's my lucky day: the crescent clip popped off and I lost it.....but then found it!

EDIT: Here are some ideas....http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/296532-o-ring-removal-any-ideas.html

You might see if you can find dental tools at either Walgreens or CVS -- at least one of the tools in the kit generally has a sharp, hooked point that might be able to dig into the seal.

*EDIT* Or, if it's rock-hard, dental tools might be able to break it.

Could you also try soaking it in something like oil to "freshen it up"? I'll resist saying that that should buff right out .

I went and bought some pick tools and that did the trick.

Now, with that oil leak eliminated, we'll see if there's another, more nefarious one.

Use a sharp awl/pick made from a material that won't scratch the oring seating surfaces. Brass bone etc.
