Someone wants electric fun?
Isle of Man TTZero 37.733 mile (1 lap) race with 109.675 mph average on
an electric motorcycle.
Of course no one here is crazy enough (well, maybe some) or
has the balls and the skill to ride that race flat out
but it's hard to say that it would not be fun!
Isle of Man TT is one of the greatest motorcycle races in the world.

X2......These electric cars are all nuke or coal. But going back to the big bang, aren't all fuels really just solar power?

More likely to be natural gas and coal. Natural gas has been steadily catching up to and will likely surpass coal before long as the predominant source of energy generation here in the US. Fracking issues notwithstanding, gas is cleaner and cheaper than coal.

Teslas drive cross country only using Supercharger stations

Quote:
It wasn't without problems, but Tesla's record-setting electric drive attempt has crossed the finish line. The pair of Tesla Model S EVs that left Los Angeles late last week has made it to New York City using nothing but Supercharger power. Last week, Tesla said the cars would be trying to set a Guinness World Record prize for the "lowest charge time for an electric vehicle traveling across the United States." According to Tesla, the Guinness team is now looking at the data to assess if that record was actually set. We don't know how much time was spent charging during the drive, but Tesla said that the two cars each put on 3,464.5 miles and used a total of 1,197.8 kWh. The entire drive took 76.5 hours.

One of these parked next to me at the mall a few days ago. Same size as the W210, I'm pulled a little further ahead in the spot than they are.

Love the Tesla. I see at least a couple every week, including one that seems to regularly plug into the free charger at the local Roth's.

I have driven more than 200 miles in a day once in the past five years, and I rented another car for that. The range would cover me just fine for 99.999% of what I do. EV's aren't for everyone - no one vehicle is, but golly they'd work great for a lot of people. I just spent 15 mins fueling up at the gas station. It takes as long to plug in an EV as it does to plug in my cellphone, sure would have been nice to come home and plug in my car and be done with it instead of standing out in the cold. You can even preheat-precool your car before you leave, while it's plugged into the charger.

Right now I just can't afford to burn a mortgage payment on a car, no matter how cool it would be. I don't drive enough for the fuel savings to pencil out. I'll be waiting for Tesla to introduce their lower cost models.

Tons of Tesla's in Palm Springs. They are En Vogue these days. I have driven them and compared to an average car, they are comfortable and have decent power.

I like V8's and V-12's and they have zero appeal to me at all levels.

My daily commute is almost at the limits of their range...

Regardless of how many people on this forum would never buy one, Tesla is selling every single car they can make. If I could afford one I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.
