which clutch parts
I have a 240 d with a bad throw out bearing. Has actualy been chewed up. The clutch itself looks fine but the pressure plate will need to be replaced as will the release bearing using the correct german term. I have enough of the pieces of the release bearing to figure out that I need the release bearing with the Sachs number 3151 069 131
I cannot figure out which pressure plate to purchase because the car has many different parts from different years. The Sachs numbers on the pressure plate are as follows TYPM200X in one place then M215 in another and these do not match the numbers for a Sachs plate for a 1981 240d The clutch is a Sachs also and it has a number 1861792235. Does any one know for sure which year Sachs pressure plate to buy? Also any ideas about the least expensive parts place to buy ? JOHN |
The pressure plate is the same for all W123s. This is a good place to get parts, good price and service. MB speak for throw out bearing is "release bearing' I would replace the pilot bearing also, its cheap, around $10.

If you have the older 4-spd Transmission that is the Iron Box with the bolt one Bell Housing or the all one piece Aluminum case will determine which Throw out bearing to use. I believe the pressure Plate and Clutch Disk is the same for the 240D`s and 300D that are manual.
Here is the parts list here off Pelican Parts from the above Tab for a 81 240D. PelicanParts.com - 1981 Mercedes-Benz 240D Sedan - Transmission & Clutch Charlie |
