SLS Hose Question

I just bought this wagon and this braided line appears that fluid is seeping through it.

It is clamped to the pump on the engine end, but it seems to run through a grommet on the bottom of the fluid reservoir.

I've never driven an SLS car before so I know very little about the system.

How does it attach to the reservoir, and also what can I replace the line with?

Does Mercedes sell this type of hose in bulk? Or will pressure rated rubber line work?

I guess I didn't take a picture of where it goes on the other end, but I think SLS experts will know what I am talking about.

If this is the low-pressure hose that runs from the reservoir to the pump, you can use regular rubber hose- on my 124 wagon it was seeping at the pump end so I just used some correct-size fuel hose I had spare. It's been fine for over a year now. Hose clamps at each end which made life easy.

So its just a low pressure feed line for fluid from the reservoir into the pump?

Is it clamped to the bottom of the reservoir? Mine seems to run through a grommet on the bottom of the reservoir, Did you unhook the reservoir from its mount when you replaced the line?

That's it. Not sure what car you have but my reservoir just lifts out- it slots into a metal mount- I drained it then just pulled the old hose off at both ends. There was a clamp/grommet type thing holding the hose to the chassis near it though.

yeah, any fuel or oil rated hose is fine for that one. the OTHER hose in your pic is high pressure braided hose, if/when it starts leaking, be sure to get Gates G6 4000psi hose and follow our writeup on swapping it out.

No worries, I'm sure you know this already but just like dealing with diesel, keep things clean- you don't want any dirt in the system! I ran the engine with the return pipe disconnected into a container to bleed it afterward, but to be honest if there's any air it'll probably bleed itself out over time.

By braided I was referring to the sheath on the low pressure line. It has what I would describe as a braided exterior.

I know, I was pointing out the unbraided hose is braided internally for strength, and when it fails, it needs replacement with STEEL braiding reinforced hose.

what size hose would this be? I have a lengthy spare power steering hose that I can use if that will be ok?
