Breaking Loose Idle Speed Stop Adjustment on Injection Pump

where in the world do you get a deep well socket, that doesnt "constrict" inside between the ratchet extension and the actual bolt head, making it useless and impossible to access the locking nut to break it and the shaft loose !!!????

already messed up the head on top.......no one, not even sears, sells something as simple as a giant screwdriver tip fitting on a 3/8 ratchet........wouldnt have mattered, as soon as i rigged something up with a bit and a socket and put the torque to it, it just gave way, like soft metal does.........it needs to be a very deep socket, or am i missing something !!! ???

that idle needs to come down !!

Use 15mm, 1/2" drive deep socket to release lock nut first....Sears has a 15mm deep 12 point that works perfectly...

You may be missing something. Should be super simple.

The Adjustment Nut on Mine is 14mm and I use a regular 14mm Crows Foot (not the Flare Nut type Crows Foot Wrench) on an extension.

If you break off the Casting the Idle Screw Screws into one of our Members had a Fix for that.
This is the one I found in My notes
Broken Idle Screw Post Fix

well im still not sure what i was missing, but my buddy Mike (SpecialDelivery) came over later that night to my work, and brought a set of REALLY deep sockets he got at Harbor Freight (only place i didnt look of course) and it came right off like a charm......VERY NEAT how u can snug it tight without holding the shaft in place, the locking nut just snugs tight against the casting its threaded into.....slick, as usual.... now both our idles are lowered and set properly.....
