Seat Diagrams?
My car's front driver seat doesn't adjust recline.
It looks to be rigged to stay in 1 position. I'm trying to figure out how the seat functions. The car was this way when I bought it. The base of the seat functions all work. Thanks . Last edited by whunter; 02-03-2014 at 02:33 PM. Reason: removed add link |

Your driver seat door switches probably failed like mine did. After 31 years, the plastic of the switch posts becomes brittle and they shear in half. A simple fix is to find a self tapping assembly screw from an old broken electronic device (cassette player, etc.) and gently screw it into the remnants of the broken post. I did not do that to mine, as I still have enough of a nub left to activate the switch by moving it with my finger. If rebuilding the broken switch post does not work, you probably have a cut/shorted wire and/or (less likely) a bad seat motor. To change the seat back angle (purple X degrees in the photo), remove the top switch cover that looks like a seat back in profile (if needed) by prying it off gently with a small flat screwdriver blade, and move the top post (circled in red) fore or aft. To pivot the seat keeping the the seat back angle the same, remove the bottom switch cover that looks like a seat cushion in profile (if needed), move the rear post (circled in green) up or down. You can also replace the switch as a unit, with a junk yard part. They are usually broken and on top of that the wires are soldered in place. Hope this helps!
