Differential Compatibility

I'm wondering if all the diesel differentials are cross compatible for 79-85 W123, W116 and W126?

116 and first generation W126 interchange as long as you stay in the 185mm or 210mm family.

Not sure on the 123...

I know my W116 185mm 3.07:1 diff is actually a W115 unit....

They all interchange. Just a matter of finding the correct axles to work as 'Bert stated with the casing size difference.
