Do Bendix and ATE calipers use different pads?

I plan to eventually upgrade my 300SD to the bigger gen2 brakes, but for now I wanted to replace the pads and rotors with cheap ones since whats on there is pretty worn. So, I pulled the passenger side wheel and checked the brand of caliper, and ordered a set of pads for the Bendix calipers. Then, I was going to change the pads and pulled the drivers side wheel and the caliper says ATE on it. Does anyone know if the pads are the same? I know that it would be ideal for them to be both the same brand, but unless the pistons are different sizes I don't see it being that big a deal.

They are basically the same pad; however, I believe I saw a post recently maybe from Tom Walgamuth which said one of them (ATE?) could take a thicker pad than the other.

The early W123s had a 15 mm brake pad, later the brake caliphers could take a 17.5 mm brake pad.

It was my understanding based on information posted here that the Bendix would take a thicker pad if available. In the past no such thicker pads were offered but now I see they are offered here at Pelican parts.

That's good W123 information, because I don't have that data in any of my catalogs....

I have a set of the thicker pads for an ATE W123 caliper, they wouldn't fit the Bendix calipers on my (now gone) '85 300TD. No way would they go in despite pushing the pistons in as far as I could.
