300d 12v electronic device ticking under steering column
 

I have a 1984 300d. Randomly I hear a ticking coming from under the steering column from the device in the picture. It's silver and about the size of a deck of card.

It sounds like the turn signal but the lights on the dash aren't blinking.

Any idea what this is and does this mean it's failing?

A quick search w/google tells me that its a seatbelt relay.

Typically in a relay the clicking could indicate a pending failure or that the realy is being opened and closed. If you have another swap it - for $35 I would do some diag's with a volt meter before buying a replacement.
