Purple wire mod killed my relay.

It did. If you are doing this, keep a spare!

Why are you needing this afterglow mod? I thought you just installed a healthy engine.

Well when you get a new relay get one for a 350SDL, since those have afterglow and no fuse.

I never undid it. I may still as the super pump may be off in timing a bit. Need to fiddle with that.

I've had my relay on my 190d frankencar doing a full 40 second glow every time I start it, so far no issues 9+ months since I did it...

I've had this for years now. Last summer it was sticking running the battery down. Should have been better prepared. Car did not idle well after start this morning, need to recheck timing and adjust off 15* possibly.

My brother had a 2 year old bosch relay stick on his 300D last fall, it melted the whole power-post in the relay and blew the fuse. Had to replace the whole thing.

Not sure if you are running this mod that you can definitely say it killed your relay since you had been running this for years. All we know, it could still have died off with the purple wire hooked up all these years.
