Valve clearance

Janko,
I would go with the hood sticker/Manufacturer specs unless there is a darn good reason to differ from it!

slow day/filler/valve adjustment on 240d

things are slow today. i'll try this. the under hood emblem recommends that the exhaust valves on 83 240d be set to .012" clearance. my search here returns .014". any reason for the (slight?) difference?

The official M-B engine manual calls for .012"/.30mm clearance on the exhaust valve for a cold engine, .014"/.35mm for a hot engine. Someone may have been providing the hot engine clearance measurement.

Good Luck!

I'd go with the .014 inch. Better too loose than too tight.

FYI: Haynes manual has exhaust/intake refs backward on one of their spec sheets

Just for those ever searching on this issue in the future.
