Thumbs up Still in the diesel family ... but

My w123 wagon is gone. Off to find happiness in someone else's garage and bank account.

I still have my 86 300SDL and 85 300CD. I may be trying to sell the CD in spring (to make room for an SEC), but Coda will be a forever car.

So I'm branching into gassers now. I have a 95 e320 parts car in my driveway and I'm picking up a 91 300TE on Saturday. The e320 will provide a bunch of upgraded options to the 300TE, including heated front seats and a cargo net/cover.

I'll post pics of both wagons once I have the TE in my driveway.

Maybe there's a bug going around. I need to make sure that I don't catch it.

I know. It was a tough decision, but I'll always have my SDL. I'm old enough now that I don't think it will be dangerous for me to have quick acceleration.

It will be interesting working on SI engines after spending the last 7 years on CI engines exclusively. I hope it's like riding a bike.

I'll admit it....I'm really enjoying this 190E 2.6....The M103 in a 201 makes for a very quick car! And the fact that it's essentially perfect helps.

I can't believe you would choose that car after I gave you the perfect opportunity to have a rusty 240D basketcase.

acceleration is overrated. I like for when I achieve 60 miles an hour, that everyone in a 3 block radius either hears or smells my achievement.

I had my time with a M103....and bailed, they're a pain to keep running properly. After having both M116 and M103 gassers, it is my view that the M116 is easier to keep running properly and returns more reward for doing so. I had to repair my M103 far more often (fuel/electrical) than the v8's....

M103 also uses almost as much fuel as the V8's do in my experience. We rarely got over 18mpg with our 300E....its TDI replacement never gets less than 35 and we've seen 53.

I'll have to give you guys a ride in the 300 when we're there in a couple weeks. It has no problem with acceleration...

Lots has been done to the M103 I'm getting. Hopefully I'll have less pain than you had.

I plan to get a 560SEC, but my buddy has a 420SEL and it's a very reliable engine. Now that I rebuilt his suspension, the whole car is pretty awesome.

I've read that the Euro 500 is more reliable than the 560 or 420.

Not yet but I suspect that in it's current configuration, it has close to 300 HP...
