Wow away two days and this thread blew up. Any questions on the wastegate shoot me a pm. And as to what can be expected from a $2000 car the 300 in my profile was $2200 and i think in darn good shape. They exist you just have to know where to look!

Yeah I agree, that 240 is a real problem and way over priced for the amount of rust.

We got our 80 240D for free from the original owner. they were going to trade it in, and told her it would end up at PNP, and a month later they gave it to us, because I have several other MB`s. told her I love the cars and worship the ground they sit on etc....
Have had the car 2 1/2 yrs, and it is probably up to $2000 so far fixing little things and so on.

A free car may not be worth the expense of patching it back together, or it may be, depending on it's condition and need of expense, or if there's rust present. So, you've got a car you might be out a total of $4K - for $2K.......so far.

The point is - these cars aren't free from expense, even if they're gotten for free. The crusher is always there for a $500 bailout. On a free car, that's not a bad return if worse comes to worst.

I want to know who you get $500 from. I have been getting offers in the low $200s for my 300SE that still runs and drives. I have to get rid of it by Friday or the asses at this apartment will tow it away.

Can't you like, park it elsewhere for a bit?

I'm planning on limping it over to my fiancee's apartment. No guarantee it won't be towed there but at least it might buy me some time.

I have the same question. I've never been able to find a yard that will give $500.
