looking at a mint 1993 w124 300TD N/A

WDB1241901F242260 is there a way to look up if this car has A/C?

I usually have the 5 cylinder N/A, never had the 6 N/A. Only the 603 turbo, had about 4 of those. great engines, but I don't like the high RPM's at freeway speeds cause of the auto trans. I believe the 5 cylinder is a better motor, but this wagon is too nice to pass up.

454.000 km, black, rust-free, front end and shocks replaced, well maintained.
needs hydraulic pump for the rear shocks and some exhaust work. 2500 euro.

any input welcome!

I thought all the euro's came without a/c, and many aftermarket places added it.

I've got an extra pump, but shipping would likely be crazy to you.

If thats true the aftermarket in Germany's attention to detail in integration is amazing.

My 1990 W201 has factory optional AC, my build sheet from the classic center clearly lists the option code.

No, they're around. factory a/c... not many though. I've seen 250td and 300td N/A with a/c but they're rare. Europe has a mild climate.

Thanks for the offer! I'll be in the us from november onwards, that would make shipping a lot cheaper. can the car still be driven when that pump is out?

I wonder if a '93 has a 603 or a 606. I'm guessing a 606 would be a 124.191.

I plugged the OP's VIN into EPC. Note he has a Euro format VIN that is mostly numbers. US format VINs have a lot more letters. Vehicle Identification Number - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

His vin on top
My US 1987 300TD is on the bottom for comparison.

WDB1241901F242260
WDBEB93D8HFxxxxxx

Here is what it came back with. The numbers in parentheses are what my car has.

Body is 124.190 (124.193)
Engine is OM603.912 (603.960)
Transmission is 722.415 (722.317)

For what it's worth, I could not get it to give me a datacard, but it appears that all the air cond stuff is grayed out if I follow the tree to things like the engine, electrical, or climate control.

great, the VIN examined!
the guy keeps saying it has "manual A/C"... Anyway, I'll just go check it out. this is the actual car in the pic.
'93 is still the normal engine I assume, not a 24 valve hopefully.

can it be driven with the sls system out?

on the 124, the SLS is part of a power steering/sls dual pump. if the sls is disconnected, and a normal ps pump is installed, the vehicle will behave normally, but the leveling will not function.
if the dual pump is in the system, but the sls portion is bad, it could be fine, it could lock up and take out the pump, which would take out the serpentine belt... I'd want to know what's not working, and how it's currently connected.

how far is the car from you? i guess "manual" AC can be anything from manual controls to opening the windows!! looks like a nice car. makes me want to go forward w/ my project of putting a 2.5 turbo in a later mod w124 wagon
