1990-93 300D Flapper Valve Question

My understanding is that, with no vacuum applied, the flapper valve on the 90-93 300D is OPEN. Is this correct? And, just so I'm absolutely sure what's going on, in the attached pic it's open, correct?

I think I found on mine that the thing didnt hold vacuum. It wouldn't respond eitherway. After gutting the turbo wastegate vacuum system. i just zip tied that thing in the appropriate place.

So what does it look like from the outside when it's open? Like my pic?

Clean hands way = tie the lever arm in one position, check 0-60 time; tie the lever arm in the other position, check 0-60 time. Decide which works better for you and tie it in that position.

Toolbox way = remove the crossover pipe and see for yourself!

If I remember when I get home today I'll pop the hood and see how its zip tied. I assume its correct, my 0-60 time is ~10 seconds or so.

LOL I was so confused when I read the notification email. I thought you believed that it only took 10 seconds to do the mod. Then I realized I said my 0-60 was around 10 seconds. I think its time to R&R the brain, time for a rebuild.

I think its about 10 seconds. Don't quote me on that. I'll have to double check it on the way home today. For certain below 15.

When my turbo was not working my 0-60 times were in the 20s.

alright so i timed a 0-60 run, I got just over 13 seconds. I was making a right hand turn when I started it and I had the a/c on..not really thinking a/c will make that much of a difference but just so you know..

also took some pictures of the flapper valve..

added them to the end of the album. I have no zip tie on place.

Great...thanks....that confirms the the valve is open with no vacuum, which is what I thought.

I'm sure if it weren't for that right hand turn and the AC you would have been at 10.
