What parts from E420 worth installing on 300TD?

I have an opportunity to "strip" a 1994 E420 for pretty much any parts I want. The 420 donor is in great shape with only 200km (no accident) so all parts are in order.

I already removed the whole interior and most cosmetic bits. The 420 will be moved to the junkyard soon as the owner needs space, so I'm scrambling to remove anything else that would constitute an upgrade on my '87 300TD.

Brakes? Suspension? What interchangeable parts are worth swapping?

Cheers.

entire front strut/brake assembly EVERYTHING, including the springs, control arms, and the calipers/rotor/spindle.

inspect the rear calipers, if they are vented, grab them and the calipers.
grab the axles (you will need a 30mm 12point shallow socket, and a chisel to peen over the locking tab.

for that matter, pull the entire subframe, it's likely in better shape than your current one...

Just finished helping a buddy change out the rear axle on his 93 400E.

We grabbed one off my 94 E320 parts car, and found out it's different.

The V-8s had a different subframe, and much stouter halfshafts, and a larger bolt (M12 vs M10) and bolt circle where they mount on the diff, making the diff unique as well.

I suspect they would exchange as a complete unit, but the individual parts appear unique, even though the M104s got the larger 1.3L V-8 diff.

Depending on whether you really have a "TD" (station wagon), the sway bars may be beefier and worth swapping. I put 1994 E420 sway bars in my 1995 E300. Remember to grab all the rubber mountings also; better yet, buy new ones. The E420 sway bars aren't that much bigger but stiffness is proportional to the 4th power of the diameter so a little bit makes a big difference. If you have a real TD your sway bars may already be that size.

Check the alternator; it probably will be ~115 Amps, worth grabbing. Look over the suspension and grab any links, arms, struts, etc., that look like they are "newish."

Is it a station wagon or sedan? T doesn't stand for turbo.
