190D 5 speed swap

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have used it in the past to troubleshoot some problems. I was wondering if anyone has any info on swapping a 5 speed transmission from a 190e 2.3 into a 190d 2.5? I assume that the standard would bolt straight up to the engine but I'm not so sure about the flywheel. Would I have to find a new flywheel and if so where could I get one? Are there any other things i should be looking at when attempting to swap? Any info would be much appreciated.

One difference between them is the set of ridges on them for ignition timing. That makes the 2.6 gasser different from the 2.3 gasser. Not sure what the 2.5 expects. -CTH

Everything bolts right in including the flywheel. Depending on the model year 190e 2.6, you have either a single or dual mass flywheel. Make sure to get the correct clutch for that flywheel. Its a good time to also do the rear main seal while you have the flywheel off. Also replace the slave cyl when the trans is out (its cheap and easy to replace with trans out) and the hose from the brake master cyl reservoir to the master cyl.

wrong info

Sorry about this guys but I actually have a standard transmission from 190e 2.3. And thanks for all the info every little bit helps. And when I do the swap I am just going to rebuild the transmission anyway (has almost 230k miles on it so its about due) as well with most of the enigine on the 2.5 diesel. Would it be easier to hook the 5 speed up to a 2.2 diesel engine? I also have one of those that was freshly redone at the dealer. Thanks again.

Its all the same. OM601, OM602, OM603, M102, M103, M104, M111 all share the same bell housing. Just keep the flywheel and the transmission together. Theres a diff between single mass and dual mass transmissions.
