I just had the front and rear window seals replaced by a MB glass specialist.He came to my house today with a friend/helper and took about 4 hours to re&re the rear glass and replace the windshield.To my suprise there was only one minor rust blemish(rear bottom left corner)which we rust-morted and painted.:cool:
Hopefully this is the end of my water leaks for a long time.I had tried to seal up the leak(s) with silicone but it only slowed them down,Ken the glass guy cautioned me about using silicone on the paint because it reacts as it cures and lifts the paint.
Total cost was- seals $350

Like you, I have an ICBC claim for a windshield stone chip.

Hi Greg,I found the water would pool(as in swimming)behind the drivers seat,but it was coming in the bottom corner of the windshield on the driver's side.After the windshield was out it was obvious that the water was running down the 'A'pillar and getting behind the seal,we noticed a small amount on the passenger side also following the same path.What I could see before was the water running down the windshieldand getting between the glass and the seal,you could see water marks on the inside in front of the speaker.
On the rear window the water would drip onto the wheelhouse(driver's side)from the corner of the window.When the rear window was removed it was again quite obvious how it was making its way in.The drip was coming from a 'drain hole?'on the window seal channel.
Ken used extra sealer (urethane) in certain areas to prevent the same type of leaks in the future.You know what the weather is like sometimes around here(October to April):)
BTW Greg what color is your car?We've been working in your neighborhood (20th&124)and I keep seeing 123's and wondering if it's you.Maybe we will have to have a "diesel meet" at the Forest one day:)

Hello Kyle - So its YOU GUYS who have been causing all those landslides in Crescent Beach, huh?

If you are watching 123's in the White Rock/Crescent Beach/South Surrey area, watch for a dark blue 123 sedan with tinted windows, European headlights & factory alloys, with a strange looking bespectacled geek talking to himself or drumming frantically on the steering wheel to the disturbing sounds of some sort of industrial noise coming from the stereo, at an obnoxious level, despite all the windows being rolled up.
If there is a woman in the passenger seat, the driver will be slumped silently over the steering wheel, while the woman is yammering. Instead of Industrial/GothicRock, the sounds eminating from the car will be Enya, or some other such sappy westcoasty crap.
That will almost certainly be me...However there is another blue 123 in the area, and the RCMP are looking for him.

The "Forest" - Are you referring to the Black Forest Restaraunt on King George, in WhiteRock, across from the Revy? My typical haunts are down on the beach - my 123 can usually be found on Marine Drive while I sit in the "Sandpiper", or am ogling women..I mean, having coffee, at Whitby's.

However on the nice days of summer the 123 is parked in the shade of a big old cedar tree. (no room in the garage for it) My choice of transportation on those fine days is a red 1993 Ducati 888 or an old yellow 1971 Ducati Scrambler. Sorry to betray the faithful, but the MB is a "tool" whereas the bike is a "toy".

Hi Greg,your too funny:D :D .Yes I did mean that place,but the beach sounds great:cool: All those landslides are caused by Mother Nature,the Enviro-techs won't let us have fun like that any more;)I think I saw a bespectacled guy slumped over the steering wheel last week on 16th,couldn't hear Enya though,my subs drown out even the roar of my mighty diesel :D

What? Your stereo is clearer than the clattering? Your engine/hood pad must still be intact. My hood pad deteriorated into strands of oily fibre hanging down from the top of the hood, so I cleaned it all off. Now my car sounds like a Sikorsky Helicopter at pre-liftoff rev's.
I should put a new hood pad on to disguise the diesel noise, but new ones are too expensive. There is another thread somewhere hereabout hood pads that I am following.
AnyHoo, keep yer eyes peeled for a blue 123. Im looking forward to some of that greasy gore that the Germans call food, at the "Black Forest"...and a Dortmunder or two. See ya.

Or maybe we can forego the Blutwurst and head straight to the Sandpiper down on trhe beach. Great place, and we can keep an eye on the babes, er, I mean, our cars.

That sounds :cool: .Maybe when the weather is nice,so we get a nice view,of the cars I mean;)

In April there is usually car show & cruise night in White Rock/Langley - there should be details as to exactly when, in the local rags. Often, it is on a sunday. You are an afficionado of American Machines as well as the finer stuff from Germany, I gather. I have found that most of these rodder guys drive trucks for a living, and appreciate diesels. A couple of nice shiny 123's would provide a nice alternative to the parade of 5-6-7 Chevvies and Fibreglass Repli-Rods. Everything can be seen at one of those events, from AMX's to Zephyrs. Our cars are different. I have found that my stodgy clattering old sedan gets more attention than the Alfa, when its spotless, shiny & clean. It would be a good idea to get as many car people together, regardless of vehicle make, for the first show & shine/cruise in as possible, and make an appearance.

However, after this last spate of crappy weather, it will take two weeks to get my car clean enough to be seen in by the automotive cognoscenti.

Keep your eyes peeled in your local paper for simmilar events at Mission Dragways, or in Heritage Park.

I.C.B.C. waived my windshield deductible, so it is New Windshield Time imminently. I thought I would pick your brain for any last minute info before running out to "Broco" or wherever else can do a decent job and seal everything up to repair/prevent the leaks. Sounds like your windshield leaked inthe same place as mine. I felt a drip on my right leg while driving in the downpour we had 2 weeks back.
Also, Summer being here, Mission Raceway being open and all, I will be up your way several times this summer. I have friends on 13th. Keep your eyes peeled for a dark blue 123.

Ah yes the sweet summer smells of burning rubber and hi-octane fuel,kinda gets me all choked up just thinking about it.I heard them racing on friday night,I think it's going to be very popular this summer,what with the PC crowd crucifying street racers hereabouts.A good friend races a '69 Camaro(street/strip)and sometimes runs with 'that' crowd.He was telling me that they will race the 'G-tech' to avoid side by side encounters.He really doesn't want to lose his car or licence over something like that.BTW he's 36 and most of the others in 'that' crowd are well over 30.It's the Bonzai Bucks that are ruining it for all the good old boys,like me ;) Let me know about a show and shine via e-mail sounds like fun.The big boys are racing in two weeks :cool: there's just something about those dragsters/funny cars going by on a 5 second pass.
