Tonight my car saved one of my good friends some bloodshed, literally

Tonight Me and my friend Caity were on our way from the car walking to a local pub, when she tripped (while wearing heels) on the sidewalk and took a full plummet to the concrete in a skirt, once I helped her back on to her feet, I noticed both of her knees were bleeding quite badly and so was one of her elbows.

I went from Oh no, to Oh My god!!!! I took her hand and rushed her back to my car where I had some napkins in the glove box along with a couple bandages and a little tube of Neosporin, once we got her elbow fixed up I realized I was out of first aid but she was still in need for her banged up knees.
All of a sudden it came to me.
My car has a first aid kit!!!!!!!!! then I thought,,, wait,,, its a 1987,,,, doing the math quickly in my head,,,,, Its a 26 year old first aid kit,,,, (not to mention untouched) trust me though I didn't care about the whole unopened part at that moment.

So i opened up the back door and went for it, I pulled it out of the back window compartment and opened it up, right off the bat I noticed the box of large over-sized bandages and grabbed them, as I was opening the box, I was praying they were still good (in the back of my head I'm thinking, once I pull the protective strips off it's never gonna stick to anything again) I proceeded to rip it open, and to my surprise, it still felt brand new, so I continued to open 3 more up until we had her injury under control.

I told her I felt really bad and I would be more than glad to take her to the hospital, or home, or where ever she liked. She replied with NO!!! I'm fine, and I said you are far from fine, look what just happened to you, and she said she could barely feel the cuts on her legs, she said her elbow stings a little, but thats not going to end her night Dammit!!!! I replied with, please don't try to act tough for me, she gave me a look that made me stop arguing, I said Alright then, lets go have some fun and we did. (Caity, you are one tough girl!!!).

Anyway back to my car, I was Soooooo proud of it tonight, later I let her know she was wearing 26 year old bandages...
She didn't care....
I love you Caity and I hope you get better soon!!

Those little moments when the thoughtful German engineering really comes through for you is why these cars are so awesome.

^^^^^ Indeed - great story.

I couldn't think of a better reason to open the first aid kit!

If you get stuck for an original kit - like there's no longer one on your continent - I'll see if I can find you one.

Thanks for sharing that with us and glad to read you and Caity had a good evening. Did you tell Caity you love her or only us?

I've always wondered about the condition of the kit in my 91 if its ever needed. Good to know there is hope.

The first aid kits the old MB's came with are like a field medic's operation setup compared to what they give you now a days....the one that came with my VW is the size of a pencil case and has some basic medication and some bandaids. Nothing compared to the massive one on my MB's.

The stuff in the MB first aid kits are the best. You can't find the quality of these any more... but your math is a bit off

I have seen sutures in the EU kits, I mean what sort of first aid do MB want drivers to do, I assume they think that MB drivers would also be in the "smuggling" business and wouldnt want to go to hospitals where they can get caught - or in the mid of kalahari desert where hospitals are atleast 10 hours away and you need to stop bleeding quick otherwise you and your gang becomes lunch.
