She starts!

Glow chambers reamed, GP's replaced, new Hueco relay (old one wasn't bad), car starts as soon as I turn tap the starter.

Still smokes and idles rough, has since the valve adjustment, but at least it starts!

Sweet.....have you replaced the injectors?

Sometimes after a valve adjustment, if it hasn't seen one for a long time....a nice long freeway drive will smooth the engine out.....burns the carbon off and reseats the valves.....

I just ordered a popper and nozzles, the one injector I pulled had a really worn nozzle on it....maybe the 32 year old original.

Tomorrow morning it gets a good long 60 mile drive to work, now that it starts well. I'll try the Italian tune up on the highway.

Psst....email me before you buy anything else

Its not a good idea to just replace the nozzles, the surfaces should be lapped.....there's a member on here that does an amazing job at rebuilding injectors and very reasonable...

Good idea on the long drive to work....these cars love freeway driving.....if you have say a quarter of a tank of gas, dump a can of seafoam into the tank.....some people say its snake oil.....but I do this on occasion and it really helps get the gunk out...

Seafoam is, IMHO, great. With my fleet of vehicles, many are used only once every couple of months and almost all are fuel injection of some type. When they start getting 'doggy' a can of seafoam in a low tank does wonders.

Even the old ford 8N with it's original 1948 carby likes seafoam at the start of the season.

The mercy bentz started right up this AM. Heuco relay does keep the light on longer, I waited for light only, no extra time, and it cranked instantly. Lots of smoke and rough with low idle.

By the time I got to work it wasn't smoking, butt meter says idle is still low but I've got to hit it with the laser, still not as smooth at idle in drive as it was pre-valve adjust.

LOTS of power, I was passing people on the twolane without even having to drop a gear. Over 70 on the interstate and it was smooth as silk and not straining a bit.

I have new lemforder motor mounts that are going in tomorrow, may help some of the idle shake.
