Why?

Why, oh why, would a hole be in the valve cover, if there is already a CCV? Wouldnt this also affect the vacuum of it?

MB put the hole there for a reason... I forget now what it is. perhaps it's to alert you when the CCV is plugged up? I'd pull the valve cover, and clean out the vent mechanism. I'd also clean out the crossover tube while it was out... and maybe just maybe close off the EGR, for testing purposes of course...

My SDL has the same hole....I always wondered what purpose it served.....

Pcv and egr are deleted. so im sure it spills out due to there not being suction from the pcv, (k&n filter/breather)

k&n has a bad rep on diesels. Perhaps research to determine if it is true.

Do NOT cover hole.

The hole is for blow-by relief. If there is smoke coming out then the engine is suspect and has severe blow by. Do NOT cover the hole, it will blow the main seal. It has nothing to do with vacuum, egr, pcv etc.

The k&n is just a valve cover breather. not intake filter.

Ah-kay: thanks for clarifying. I just remarked that since i dont have the negative pressure of the intake to draw out the crank case air, that its why it is now leaking out of the hole!
