cruise and blinkers working intermittently

Cruise control works fine sometimes and wont engage other times. It will always accelerate with handle, but often when I let go it will not have held. Recently I noticed the blinkers were not working. I checked the brake lights and flashers and they were good, then next time indrove the blinkers worked. Hoping someone can start me on my troubleshooting. Guessing its a related electrical issue.
thanks

Not sure what year car you have.....but the cruise is most likely the computer under the dash and the blinker issue is most likely the switch is dirty and or the relay is bad......its possible that a few dirty grounds may also have a bit to do with it....

my blinkers go out if the hazard flasher gets halfway unseated. check the plug back there, possibly...

Almost certainly it's the brake lamp switch, under the dash, driver's side, attached to the brake pedal. Disassemble and clean the contacts or replace w/new. Still would help to know what kind of vehicle you have.

Sorry. I should know better. I have a 1985 300td. I will start checking the switches, and to be honest, the mercedes fuses kinda freak me out.

Why do they freak you out?

All you have to do is look at the fuse and if it is broken the metal will have a break in it.

Accelerating only with the handle and not "holding" speed is indicative of cruise control amplifier aging/failure. Its unrelated to the turn signal issue as best as I can tell..

True but remember on the aluminum fuses, they will not show signs of being blown but will still be bad.....because if the reaction and wear, where the tips meet the copper tabs...

They also make cool little plastic tools to remove them in case you are worried about getting zapped

Here's a good test description on how to confirm it is the cruise amp..
