W124 E300D Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement

Hello, I'm going to be renewing my chain tensioner tomorrow, I have the FSM instructions and they say to turn the engine to 0 degrees first, other posts/instructions (including my Haynes manual) I've seen don't mention needing to rotate the engine first- obviously not having to get under the car makes life easier so it would be preferable- anyone done this?

cheers.

[edit] I initially read the subject as new chain rather than new tensioner.

I suppose at TDC there is less tendency for the cams and IP to be off center as it were and tend to rotate to a relaxed position when chain tension is released.

It may be simply to "center" the slack. Heck man, just bump it over until the dot on the balancer appears in the ring. Then R&R it.
