190D valve job
so, i have my head out due to leaking head gasket. I have it in the machine shop, is it worth the $280 extra to have a valve job done on it (in addition to the $120 for the cleaning and machining of the head)? I think the warped head is around .008, so they can machine it.
It is a 190D non-turbo, new car to me so I have no idea on the mileage. 158k is what the odometer says, but it is broken. |

Yes do the whole thing
Yes, it is worth the few extra bucks for a valve job. The guides are probably fine, but if nothing else, definitely replace the valve stem seals. They can also clean all the carbon out of the prechambers, and replace or remove/lube with high temp paste the four glow plugs. The engine will now be happy for another 200K miles or more!

thanks, I bought new bosch glow plugs, so they will be new, and I may have them do the valve job too.
another 200k sounds appealing |
