Engine vibration when turning right

Ok so first off thanks for the wealth of knowledge on this website. It has been invaluable.

My car has developed a vibration on right turns only. I noticed it right after I changed the oil cooler lines, motor mounts (febi), and engine shock absorbers (stabilus). It had been very rough before hand and would shake the car at idle, but now I am noticing a distinct vibration on right turns.

I changed the wheel bearing and ball joint thinking it would alleviate some of the vibration, but that had no impact. I ruled out any suspension issues last night when I killed the engine while coasting and was unable to produce any noise while weaving back and forth. It was actually very tight.

At this point I'm not sure what it could be.

Could I have a bad engine mount or transmission mount? Or could there be an issue in the power steering system?

You did not say which year and model you own so the below stuff is about mine.

Try replacing the Transmission Mount also.
The Motor Mounts and the Transmission Mount for sort of a triangle of support.

While you are inspecting the Transmission Mount take a look at the Driveshaft Support Mount and Bearing.

In the past many who were experiencing Engine Idle shaking have complained that their new Motor Mounts did not last more than a year or 2.
I think part of that is the quality of the Motor Mounts and also the fact that they never fixed the other stuff that caused the Engine to Shake; overworking the new Mounts.

I was surprised to find from My Paperwork that I installed URO Motor Mounts and I think it was an Anchor Transmission Mount trying to get rid of the shakes. But, I ended up doing a Valve Adjustment and rebuilding the Injectors as well as a New Rack Damper Pin.

That was about 5 Years ago and the URO Motor Mounts are still doing their Job.
Since that time the Transmission Mount had become soaked with ATF so that may need changing soon.

If you shop around Lemförder/Lemfoerder/Lemforder Motor Mounts do not cost much more than the inferior ones and are the same as the ones you would pay over $115 each for from the Mercedes Dealer

Probably motor mounts. If it is, consider filling the new ones with Shore A 30 urethane to provide support and help prevent collapsing. New mounts are consistently reported to be crap.

OK I'll look into the transmission mount and driveshaft support and report back this weekend. I'll also take a quick look at the febi motor mounts to see how they are performing.

Also, I recently did a valve adjustment. I'm fairly certain the car is in need of an injector rebuild because it smokes a little. That's probably the reason it shakes as much as it does.

Still no idea what type of car you have....

But I doubt you need an injection pump rebuild.....have you replaced the fuel and air filters? Have you had the injectors rebuilt? Have you cleaned the alda? How's the turbo? Ever clean the fuel tank?

You feel or hear this? Or both? does it occur almost instantainiously as you start to go right or does it develop after you are into the turn.

Cooljjay, I updated my signature line. It's a 1985 300d. The fuel filters have been replaced, I have not cleaned the alda, the turbo could use a rebuild, and as far as I know the fuel tank has not been cleaned.

Barry12345, it is consistently making the noise on right turns and begins immediately when I turn. It's almost a buzzing as if something on the motor is making contact with the frame. I can definitely feel it in the car and hear it. It's vibrating the cabin. The harder I turn the worse the vibration.

Well I replaced the febi driver side motor mount this weekend with a lemforder mount and the vibration is completely gone. I noticed that they febi mount was completely squished and the arm was vibrating against the mount housing. The new lemforder mount sits the motor about 1 inch higher than the febi mount.

Chalk this one up as a lesson learned. Don't buy inexpensive parts, even if they are made in Germany (supposedly).

Yes I will be using lemforder from here on out. I won't be getting burnt from them again.

Anyone know if peach parts will return defective parts? I want to send this hunk of crappy rubber back.
