5 CYL INTO 240 , and four speed manual conversion
Several people have talked about and some have even seen a 240 with a 300 engine in it...
Would you please post pictures of yours... and tell us what you know about the project...? Thanks, Greg ( sitting here with a low mileage 300 from a parts car ) .... Last edited by leathermang; 03-25-2002 at 04:08 PM. |

From Ridge,
Generally the only problem areas on making the conversion are: Finding
a 300D manual flywheel, cutting four inches out of the shift linkage and rewelding it in proper alignment and cutting the 240D driveshaft and adding a couple of inches, The Driveshaft has to be rebalanced afterwards. I'll dive under the car to measure the driveshaft length and get back to you. It appears that the 300d 115 Model flywheel is the same as the 300D 123 Model but I'm having it checked out in Germany to be certain. If that's the case I know where there are five of the flywheels. Anyway, you can't believe how well the Turbos move once you've made this conversion. Ben |
