Wanting to buy back my Diesel
Last year of Summer 2012 my mother sold the family Mercedes Diesel and I kept my C230. This car had a lot of sentimental value I just can't let go of. I found out recently she has about 4 months left if even of her life due to breast cancer spreading to her liver and now I want to buy the car back in a few months because this was her car and my fathers who passed. But I have questions regarding at how much I might be putting into this car if I get it back. I will though with my offer. Back to the car it needs a head gasket. Never overheated and flushed regularly. Oil was getting into the coolant, but not vice versa so I was not worried about bearings. Thanks ya'll

Oof, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your mother. I will pray for peace for your family during this time.
As for the car, what year and model is it? Not overheating it may well have saved you a good deal of battle, but do you know what the next owner did to it? If he overheated it -- especially if it is an OM60X (1986 or newer) -- you may be in of a new head. If it's an OM61X (1985 or older), you should be able to get away with more overhearing -- if nothing else, heads will be easier to find. Cast iron tolerates overheating much better than aluminum. If it hasn't been overheated, you'd probably be looking at roughly $1000-1200 in parts + labor. Doing the work yourself you could probably do it for under $250. I wonder why there is oil in the coolant and not vice versa. Is the oil at a higher pressure than the coolant, forcing oil into the coolant but not coolant into the oil?

Thank you for the prayers. It's a 1999 E300DT. With the OM606. Anyway, if I let it sit overnight it build pressure. I know some pressure is normal. Head gasket right? I'm thinking of $6K just to get it back and pay someone to do it since I can't with my physical health ATM. It only had a 150K and I was surprised cause I didn't the think 606 had gasket issues. I never saw that.
