This gives a great history of oil designations over the years. CI doesn't really stand for Compression Ignition, just one of the latest "c" certifications, which does go all the way back to CA which did exist prior to 1959, since it's not to be used in engines built after 1959. The viscosity is more limited to temperature duty, I've really liked the Full synthetic rotella 5-40W works for where I live in So CA and when I go to Utah to visit family in the winter as well. |
