W210 E300D-turbo high mileage?

Looking at a 1998 e300dt. 137,000 miles

What kind of mileage and durability are people getting out of these?

I am used to W123's, never dealt with a W210

My '99E300Dt is at 235K, original head, PO replaced most of the suspension then I had the lower control bushings in the rear replaced.

Presently getting my transmission repaired, diagnostics shows some bad connections to a solenoid on the valvebody. I would say durability of the transmission is less than previous models but having overdrive is a great thing and is why this model can get 32 -34MPG on the highway - provided you resist the temptation to press the pedal and feel your body accelerate rapidly up to whatever speed you desire - without getting a ticket!

You missed out on owning a 124? The difference between the 123 and the 124 is as significant almost as the difference between the 124 and the 210.
The 210 glow plugs are a delicate thing and need to be serviced by a very competent mechanic else they break off in the head leading to a large service bill (head usually has to be sent to a machine shop to be repaired), the 123 can be serviced by almost anyone, you will miss that with the 210.

Don't overlook the safety improvements in the form of electronic sensors which make the 210 light years ahead of the previous models.

my 99 Had/Has darn close to 300K on it. be aware, there's a lot of plastic in the engine cooling components and be expected to replace them, my water pump, radiator let go within 2 weeks of each other. These are really sporty and quite nice cars to have.

I would consider that average mileage for one of these cars. I bought a '98 with 200+K miles, and it was nearly like a new car. My friend has it now, and thoroughly enjoys it with no issues.

My 1998 E300 has 203 k

I've had it for about 6 months now

Mostly trouble free, the big things I've had to fix is to replace the MAF sensor and I had one injection line that broke due to failed support clips.

If you are going to look at one one, bring along a 5 (or 6 mm, can't remember) Allen wrench so you can remove the cover over the injectors and inspect under there.

PO replaced the catalytic converter and redid a lot of the front and rear suspension. I'm going to have to replace some of the rubber bits in the back (subframe bushings).

I also need to do an inspection (timing chain stretch, vacuum pump, belt tensioner) to see if I have any developing issues up front.

I am also looking at a couple of these. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the spring perch failure issue and consider whether you might want to do a preemptive repair. My auto body guy will do it for $300 a side, which is pretty cheap.
