87 190D 2.5T losing power around 1/4 tank...

I figure it's the symptoms of a clogged tank screen no? the first tank went down to R, since then I've not been able to get the car to run reliably below 1/4 tank.

I will try swapping the fuel lines, and see if that clears out the screen, but then I'll not be able to run below 1/2 tank reliably correct?

ok, I've driven about 200 miles with the lines swapped, and as I neared the 1/2 tank mark on the gauge, I got chicken, so I swapped them back.

I used a full quart of Power Service Clear Diesel, and drove normally (WOW IT IS MORE POWERFUL running off the return lines!)
when I swapped it back, it felt smooth still, so we'll see how low it will go now.
I'm hoping to see the reserve light... but I don't know if it works yet.

So I guess the return pressure wasn't enough to clear out your tank screen.

nope... still ran out at 1/4 tank... I'll have to pull the screen and replace or clean it out...
