Refinished some Borbet Type E's

Short and crappy write up here Alloy wheel refinishing..

Sadly the tires I had on hand were 225/45r17 and I think I really need some 40's. Speedo still runs slow and have some rubbing when wheel is clocked at the stop left or right.

Still, not to shabby. This weekend or next I'll put a few more coats of clear coat.

It was hiding under that clear coat!!! Sadly some of it had discolored where the clear coat chipped off, so I had to deshiny it a bit for now with 600 grit. Next weekend or so I will take it to 1000 grit and then some polish wheel action.

Turns out these wheels were owned by a guy I work with who sold his Passat to a guy out in the sticks. It's a small world after all.

carb cleaner eats the clear easy--but it evaporates to quickly by itself--so place a paper towl on the spokes and spray it down and the paper cloth holds it suspended long enough to eat.
