diagram for 1979 300SD heating amplifier needed
Mercedes part number: 0008350157
old unit began smoking. tried to replace with remanufactured unit. that began smoking = pulled it off immediately. what's going wrong? |

Your auxiliary water pump is froze......heard more then one story about it being froze and taking out the amplifier....also do you have an updated servo? There's a chance the servo is bad too...

probably the servo stuck; i think you can wire in a 1 amp fuse somewhere to prevent it from blowing the amp. try W116.org

Its probably the aux water pump....if the amp smoked its probably dead now.....when you get a new amp....unplug the aux water pump....if it is bad...no smoking amp.....what I did was to pull mine and test it on the battery....it was froze so I unscrewed it.....cleaned it up, lubed the bearings and no issue since.....the aux water is wired to the amp if I remember correctly....read up about your servo system here....
