URO trans mount

I found a genuine OEM transmission mount on Ebay for my wife's 300SD for a really good price, but I was still curious about seeing a URO mount. So when placing an order for other stuff, since the URO mount was 12 bucks or something, I just got one to take a look at. I had read here a post that stated URO was making OEM trans mounts like Phoenix and grinding off
the Mercedes Star, like Pheonix sold by Lemforder. Well, sure enough
there is a small grind mark in the rubber, like that on Lemforder engine mounts. Now since I have no idea whatsoever what was ground off I cannot
say if it was a star or not. If the mount will fit my TD I'll install it and see how long it lasts.

Are you sure it's ground off? Maybe the Uro mold was based on a Lemfoerder with the star ground off :)

Take pictures and measurements when it first supports weight so you have a basis to describe change over time and miles.

Will do

I'll see how much it compresses or falls apart over time. I do see already
that the metal it's made of is a little bit lighter weight than the OEM trans
mount. It is certainly a little grind mark as if something were intentionally
scrubbed off. It doesn't look like anything to do with the manufacturing process. It does look just like the little grind mark on the Lemforder motor
mounts. We'll never really know for sure I guess, unless we get a member
that would be a mole for us;)

I can't speak to the diesel, but I bought a URO for my W210 gasser and it lasted something less than a year. I didn't realize it had failed, but the dealer noted it at a "courtesy inspection", so I bought the OE corteco, swapped it out and never looked back. By then the URO was more than a year old, so I tossed it in the garbage and didn't worry about the "warranty" on it.

I've had a URO mount under my 5spd for at least 30k miles so far, no issues.

If it is a real Mercedes Part besides the Star it would also have the Mercedes Part Number on it.

I wouldn't think the transmission mounts would be a huge problem for collapsing and failing as they carry such a relatively small amount of weight, unlike the motor mounts. If that's a concern however, they can be filled just like the motor mounts to prevent collapse.

Just be careful not to use a hard urethane, use a Shore A 30 hardness, otherwise you'll get a vibration at 1700-2000 rpm, at least if yours is like mine was before I swapped it out.

There is mitigating circumstances like the Seal on the Out Put Shaft leaking that shortening the Life of the Mount.

I have URO Motor Mounts and an Anchor Transmission Mount on My Car. I think all are still OK. But, I fixed the other things that were making My Engine Shake.
My Transmission Mount is saturated with ATF so I am keeping an eye on that.

Also any time I had gotten Oil or Fuel on the Motor Mounts I have sprayed them down with Purple Power and hosed them off with Water.

I have a new set of Lemfoerder Motor Mounts waiting for when the time comes to change the Motor Mounts.
