Anyone Have a Good Step-by-step Write-up on Cylinder Head Removal for an OM606?
I have a 1999 E300D with a sheared glow plug. Attempted an extraction, which ended in disaster when the drill tap sheared off in the GP body.
Based on how hard the steel in taps is, I figure there is no way to drill it out at this point and the head will have to come off. Would like to do it myself and take it to a machine shop to save a few bucks. Thanks. |

Yep, I found that one, too. Only concern is that it seems like it's for a 4-cylinder version of the engine in a W124 chassis.
I've got the turbo 6-cylinder version in the W210 chassis. I'm concerned with what the differences might be. Thank you, though. JP |

The section header includes '606.912/.962 in model 210.' I see steps for turbos though the 124 wasn't offered with a turbo 606.

I still have faith my number 3 can come out. The hole is full of penatrant right now. As far as the head removal goes, its pretty simple. Hardest part is getting it to Top Dead Center. Look at the w124 manual online for the Top Dead Center and then simply disconnect everything above the head line I would recommend disconnecting the exhaust where it splits off rather than directly from the head. Those old Exhaust bolts looked REALLY ugly on mine.
