Ugh just started losing reverse in my 92D

Looks like more fun ahead. I've already got some problems in my 99 E300 with the 722.6 and my new-to-me 92 2.5 starts acting up with reverse. Started ticking and a slight delay in engagement in reverse. Not my first rebuild with these cars though, my first W124 I bought previously in 1996 I bought from a family member who put the dismantled tranny in the trunk. I wonder how long I can get away before I lose reverse completely. On the positive side, I have not slept an entire week and I've got all the parts to get the 92D up to par. So it's about 90% completed. I've just got to finish gutting the interior tonight and put the black interior I saved from my 92 300E I drove for awhile and parted after THAT trans grenaded itself. I just could not stand the smell of cigarettes anymore in the carpet, seats etc. I carpet cleaned and it just got worse and potent. The headliner is good though now. I'll have to post pictures of Spruce Green/Black Leather.

Hmmm.....202k seems on the low side to start losing the tranny. Do you know anything about the maintenance (fluid/filter) history?

My 92 about to hit 250k....hoping tranny has many miles left.

Doesn't it seem really soon? When I bought my other 124 with the tranny in the trunk, it had 180K which was the earliest I've seen. The owner I bought it from took good care of it and I've serviced it since he's had it. Before that, I do not know. I'm starting to judge by some of this car that it has a lot more than 202K miles. A lot is failing too soon.

I've had the same delay into reverse for 80K miles. I heard of someone doing a 722.3 swap into a 2.5 but I forget if it was a 201 or 124.
