where to find alternator wire harness?

or a 3 prong terminal repair kit or something. The 3 alternator connector wires on my 82 300TD have sheared off at the terminal plug and there seems no way to reattach wires to that terminal block - but I can't find the part anywhere!
Got my janky soldering iron out, but that was a vain attempt.

I don't think you can get them....only options are junk yards.....some members have simply replaced the connector with simple spade style plugs.....they fit perfectly....

If this is the "looks like a headlight plug" socket I'm thinking of, there is a way to release the terminals from the plug. You will need a thin ( ~ 0.008" thick ) and narrow ( ~ 0.025 ) pin to push the latch on the terminal. This is pushed from the terminal side then the terminal pulled from the wire side.

Have a look on the net for terminal release tools and how to use them.

Also, have a look at Standard Motor Parts / Borg Warner / and other parts sellers for wiring pig tails. Have a look at VW , Volvo and similar for wiring.

Worst case you can use spade terminals and just mark where the wire go.

There is part numbers for the Termnal ends and the Plastic Housing.

Alternator Connector Parts
A 000 546 78 40 (Cable Shoe) Pin Bushing Alternator large 2 each $2.70 ($2.03) These are the 2 large connectors
A 000 546 79 40 (Cable Shoe) Pin Bushing Alternator small 1 each, MSRP $3 ($2.25) This is the Single small connector.
A 005 545 02 28 (Cable Connector) PIN BUSHING HOUSING ALTERNATOR,3-POLE, MSRP $7 ($5.25)

The prices are from several Years ago and may have gone up since that time. Also a lot of companies don't use the letter that is in front of the part number.

It would be easier just to go to a Junk Yard and cut the Electrical Connector and a length of Wire.

Cost me $5.00 at the junkyard. Making a good connection is the problem. Might want to get some shrink tubing to get a good protected connection and a gun type soldering iron.

Here is your options for W123`s at PNP.

Pick-n-Pull » Check Inventory

Pick-n-Pull » Check Inventory

Usually Moss Landing always has a few, that would be the closest to you, but kind of slim picking there now. the 123 heard is getting fewer and fewer.

Thanks again

it appears that there are two live wires (red?) and one ancillary (blue) - are the pair of hot wires interchangeable in position as I have no idea which way they were hooked up before tearing off.

I believe the two large red wires B+ are a couple of wires that carry 1/2 of the charging current each. They are essentially interchangeable but you don't want to lose one as too much stress will be put on the other causing it to fail.

The blue wire - the smaller one is on a separate circuit and is used as the exciter for the rotor of the alternator and is powered thru the dash charge bulb.
