Glow Plugs any to avoid for these cars?

Is there any glow plugs have have a bad reputation in these cars? i have one bad and have no idea how old they all are so i figure i will just change them all, that has always worked the best for me in other diesels i have had.

I will only use Beru in my 606. I have purposely destroyed both brands and Bosch for the 606 are not built tough enough.

Wow, what a great price. I have never heard of holger christensen or berlit, but I really appreciate the information.

Regarding the OP's question, I think most here recommend Bosch because of their general higher quality and easy availability. I have had better luck with Beru, but they are less common, so fewer people have had any experience with them. In addition to the problematic brands already mentioned, some have had bad luck with Monark glow plugs, but that is heresay as I haven't used them myself.

Could you clarify about being made in Denmark? Did it say that on the packaging? I tried to learn more about "Berlit", and the only company I could find is out of China called Ruian Berlit Engine Systems.

I re-read his ebay ad, and he says "purchased from Holger Christensen Denmark" as opposed to "made in Denmark."

Perhaps these are actually Chinese knock-offs of Bosch plugs. The price certainly would be surprisingly good for a European made GP.

I've had Bosch units on my 602 for the past year... some 20-30K later still working fine.

I think I paid $60 for the set. What's the expected life span on glow plugs anyway? I imagine they measure them in cycles but what do we expect year/miles wise?

I tried the Autolite plugs from my local Auto partZ store, (because they were available that day), and I agree- they are JUNK! They are not even worth the time and effort to install them...Rich

Holger Christiansen is a unit of Bosch. They seem to now operate as "HC Car Go". They mainly manufacture automotive electrical components and bearings/seals. Product groups

There is a thread, I forget if it's here on PP or a VW board I used to follow, where there was a lot of debate on whether these are equivalent quality to Bosch or not (it was asserted that some/all Bosch plugs are actually manufactured by Christiansen, but no one seemed to know if the ones sold under their alternate brand are reboxed Bosch production or an alternate line).
