Were TRW suspension parts original equipment for the W201?
G'day Folks,
Question => Were TRW suspension parts original equipment for the W201? Reason I ask => TRW bits seem to be fitted as standard on the front of my W201 (1992) but I can't find that kind of evidence on the back. I can buy TRW parts for a less money than Lemforder so I was thinking it might be worth a whirl - but I don't want to end up in a Febi-like situation. Feel free to give "Lemforder or nothing" advice but please bear in mind the question asked above! (Oh and Mercedes parts cost the best part of 100 euros a strut - seems silly to pay that much money if they were made by TRW; which I can buy for 20-30 euros a strut)

My opinion is that TRW makes very good suspension components. I've found they've been very durable. My personal choices are Lemförder, TRW and Moog.

Be careful with TRW. Some is good, some is junk. I read about junk ball joints on TRW late 124 V8 LCAs, the kind with integral ball joints. On the other hand, separate ball joints such as for early 124 LCAs are much better made.

If it helps, I bought genuine control arms for my w124 and they were stamped trw.

yup.
TRW was OE for 201 AND 124, possibly other years. FRONT components. not sure on the rear...

Thanks to all - I think I might be taking the TRW gamble.
The subframe bushings on my W201 were Boge - which now seems to be ZF / lemforder / sachs...

FWIW
They were an OE supplier for w116 and w123 upper control arms and bushings. I have a pile of TRW boxed ones that have the Mercedes star and part number stamped.

If you open your eyes...
...you can sometimes find the answer yourself
Not the best picture in the world - but yes TRW was fitted as standard on the back W201 suspension. (This doesn't mean they were the only manufacturer but they're definitely OE)
