No heat in my '79 300SD
after white smoke and a burning smell entered the cabin, the heating stopped.
The heating amplifier had burned out. Replaced. No heat. The AC Servo may have been the problem but was fixed by George Murphy of Performance Analysis in Tennessee. No heat. The secondary electric water pump may have been at issue. Replaced. No heat. Vacuum works to the locks ... Possibly the interior temperature sensor quit? The hoses to the AC Servo get hot ... but no heat is being transferred. When the outside temps are above 40 degrees Fahrenheit then defrost heat works but not bilevel heat. Thoughts? |

Rebuild the monovalve and check for vacuum leaks in the pots in your HVAC control. You can find a mono valve rebuild kit for about $15. And rebuild diaphragms for the for the vac pots for about $6. The monovalve rebuild is easy. The pots are hard to get to but the actual rebuild is easy also. Let me know if you have trouble finding parts.

Hmm, I was going to suggest that perhaps the vacuum connections to the temperature switch on the Servo had been disconnected but you should still get heat in Defrost and Bi-Level regardless. Is it possible you have a problem with the vacuum switches on the push button panel?

There's no mono valve in the ACC II system in the W116 SD's. We have the dreaded Servo to deal with.

Does the blower motor still work? It sounds to me like something burned out.

Somewhere on the forum is a link to the service manual for the servo system. I posted it years ago but other people have posted the link too. If you can find that manual I'm thinking it would be possible to apply voltage and vacuum to the right wires/hoses independent of the push buttons to confirm that the servo actually turns and lets hot water into the core.

If the blower motor isn't working check the hidden fuse on the firewall...
in waht sequence did you replace the servo, aux pump and amp? If the amp was replaced before the aux pump...your amp is probably bad again... Did you replace the foam tube that leads to the sensor? great service info 1971 Chrysler Imperial Auto-Temp 2 Service Reference Guide - Session 281

Didn't test the vacuum tubes for leaks ... mañana
I wonder if the replacement amplifier doesn't have issues Will solve this |

A ball valve in place of the monovalve will solve it. But that's only convenient if the weather is consistent where you live. In Tenneessee, its rather inconvenient.
