a/c oil after total flush purge and new parts
I read up and I know it's 3oz after a compressor change. I'm doing compressor, drier, expansion valve, and breaking all the hoses open and flushing.
How to's list to distribute oil around the system since the R4 has no res, but how much oil total for a complete job? Any reason not to use Ester even with R12 going back in? I was going to cheap out and sell the car with 134 in it but I have to face the possibility that it may not sell and I don't want 134 for myself.

ester will work (as will pretty much any oil with R12) but mineral is safer, as it will not absorb moisture like the other oils do.
I'd put 1/4 of the oil in the dryer, 1/4 in the condenser, 1/4 in the evaporator/suction line, and let the last 1/4 suck in as you charge the system.

the 85 does have higher surface area than the others, but the hoses are the same. unless you need hoses, I'd skip them.

Thanks!! Didn't know if hoses were same. Guess i have a date for the picnpull. Work already thinks I'm odd...I'll confirm that when I bring a set of coveralls to change into since the picnpull is 60 miles from home but 3 miles from work.
