Fixed the latch, broke the locks?
Hey, y'all. I bought my 300D about a year ago and I'm learning to work on it.
I searched the forum and found lots of posts about door locks, but not one with my problem. So about a month ago, the striker plate insert on the driver's door broke (that little plastic tab) so I replaced that and as a result had to adjust the shims to get the door to shut properly. So then the door was shutting perfectly but the next morning I realized that NONE of the door locks will move at all, manually OR via the vacuum system. All of the lock pegs are in the up/unlocked position and I can't push any of them down from the inside, or from the outside with the key or any other combo of inside/outside/key/push. They won't move. The driver's door key will go in the lock, but it won't turn. I live out in the country and am not too worried about car thieves but I do get nervous when I'm out at night by myself and can't lock the doors. Any ideas on how I might have broken the locks while fixing the striker plate? I didn't mess with the lock or handle at all.

Your going to have to remove the door card/panel and inspect the linkage....something is probably bond up or came lose inside.

What the...
You only worked on the driver's door, correct? And yet all four doors stopped working? This...is weird. The only realistic method I can think of for the one door to influence all the other doors is via the vacuum system, so I would start troubleshooting there and with the driver's side door locking mechanisms. As Cooljjay said, the mechanisms may be jammed up, and then the vacuum system could hold the other locks open...I guess...
Dunno. Take the interior door panel off and see. If that's all fine, I'm gonna have to delve deep into my Big Bag 'O Improbable Crap to come up with something. You may have developed another problem entirely at the same time you did the latch--I don't believe much in coincidence, but when it raises its head, it's frequently a doozy. You can always try opening up another door panel and disconnecting the lock from the vacuum system to see if it works then. Good luck. Last edited by CalicoJack; 12-30-2013 at 10:24 AM. Thanks, you two! I did just work on just the one door -- the driver's door. I'll try to get to the door panel on Wednesday and let y'all know what I find.
