Hey you Guys i need your help in determining if i can use a oil temp fuel gage from a different year than my 81 , someone has one from a 79 Diesel and wondering if that would work also any other years gages that would work on an 81 240 D , Thanks

as long as both diesel gauges ... from the same body style they should work ...

Not true. Not all year models shared the same circuitry, even if the connectors happen to fit.

I believe theres no reason any W123, 240D cluster wont swap. Theres the 80 and 100 MPH thing and the US and metric gauges but its all swappable, No?

From what I understand looking at W123`s in the yards. The 77 - 79 used PSI for the oil, and "F" for the temp. 80 - 85 used BAR for the oil and "C" for the temp.

I installed a early style gauge in our 80 240D which came with the "BAR" and "C" indicators. I has so far the last 3 yrs worked as it should. the fuel low indicator light is "Red" in the early gauge and "Orange" in the later style.

Iam not sure if the 77 - 79 300D used the early or later style gauges, but the 240D and 280E did from what I have seen.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.
